Messaging (platform)
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Message channels has one switch each for SMS, WhatsApp and Email. Turn a channel off and the whole app stops sending on it: no booking, check-in, order, ID, payment-link or receipt messages go out on that channel for any hotel. Use it when a provider is down or you have run out of credit, so the app does not keep trying and spending.
Each channel’s card also shows how it is doing: Sent today, Failed (or Bounced for email), and the Balance or Mailbox space where the provider reports one.
Login and sign-up codes, password resets and staff invites, your “send a test to me” and the manual WhatsApp broadcast are never blocked, even when a channel is off.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”Upstay operators who can see the Guests & messages area.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Channels under Guests & messages in the rail.
How to turn a channel off or on
Section titled “How to turn a channel off or on”- Open Channels.
- Click the switch beside SMS, WhatsApp or Email.
- Click Save, or Discard to undo. Until you change something, the bar says No changes.
The change applies within a few seconds.
Tips & good to know
Section titled “Tips & good to know”- When a channel comes back, messages skipped while it was off are sent only if they are less than 24 hours old. Older ones are dropped, so guests never get a flood of stale “how is your stay” texts.
- A hotel’s own WhatsApp / SMS & outbox feature switch still applies. This page is the app-wide switch on top of it.
- A number says Not reported when the provider does not tell Upstay.
- Every change is recorded in Activity.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Guests say they got nothing → Check that the channel is on in Channels, then check the hotel’s own WhatsApp / SMS & outbox switch.
- “Send sms, email and whatsapp.” → Reload the page and try again.
