Cash drawer
What it does
Section titled “What it does”The cash drawer ties the desk’s cash to a shift. You open the shift by counting the float in the drawer. Every cash payment and cash refund during the shift moves what the drawer should hold. When you close the shift you count the drawer again; if it does not match, you say why. The difference is recorded, nothing is posted to the books.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”Front Desk, Managers and Admins. Only one shift can be open at a time.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Today → Money today → Open the drawer → or Close the shift →. Signing out also offers to close your open shift.
How to open the shift
Section titled “How to open the shift”- On Today, click Open the drawer →.
- Count the cash in the drawer and enter it as the Opening float.
- Click Open the shift. The last shift’s count is shown for reference.
How to close the shift
Section titled “How to close the shift”- Click Close the shift →.
- Check the shift’s payments: the totals by Cash, Card, UPI and Online & channels, and every payment taken.
- Under The cash drawer, read Opening float, Cash taken, less cash refunds, Paid out (petty cash) and Should be in the drawer.
- Count the drawer and enter it under Counted, or open Count by notes and type how many of each note and the coins: the total fills itself in and the count is kept with the shift. It shows Matches, or how much the drawer is short or over.
- If it does not match, write why in Note for the next shift. The note is required then.
- Click Close the shift.

- Under Paid out of the drawer, enter the Amount and what it is For (for example “Milk for the kitchen”).
- Click Pay out. It is listed with the time and who paid it, and Should be in the drawer goes down by that amount.
- Above your limit, it says Sent to the manager and is paid only when a manager approves it.

Section titled “How to sign out with a shift open”- Click Sign out at the foot of the rail.
- If your shift is still open, Your shift is not closed says how many payments it holds.
- Click Close the shift first, or Sign out anyway to leave it open for the next person.
Tips & good to know
Section titled “Tips & good to know”- Count the float before you take the first payment of the shift. That is the amount the shift is closed against.
- Card, UPI and online payments are listed for the record but do not change what the drawer should hold.
- Only if your hotel has Paid-outs. The desk’s limit for paying out alone is set by the manager (500 unless changed).
- A wrong paid-out is voided by a manager, never deleted.
- A difference is recorded with the shift. It is a fact to explain, not a charge to anyone.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- “A shift is already open (opened by …)” → Someone else’s shift is still open. Close it, or work in it.
- “Count the cash in the drawer first” → Enter the counted amount before closing.
- “The drawer is short by ₹… Say why before you close the shift.” → Add a note explaining the difference. The same applies when it is over.
- “That shift is already closed” → Another desk closed it a moment ago. The panel reloads by itself.
